Contributions to the project
ESI will provide expertise in commercial software development, integration and application toward patient specific analysis of different injury scenarios. Whereas reliable computational models are available for structural analysis and fluid dynamics module are widely coupled fluid structural interactions (FSI) are still not widely spread and pose a challenge especially if the geometric and material details are as complicated as those found in cerebral environment. It is proposed to couple two of the most advanced tools of each domain in order to provide a state of the art solution of cerebral impact studies. The codes posed are: PAM-SCL; the library behind PAM-Crash the leading safety code of automotive and aerospace applications and CFD-ACE+; the leading multi-physics code. 
Both codes are proprietary to ESI Group. The coupling effort will not only aim at the provision of a technical capability but also at making it available to novice and inexperienced users through easy and intuitive graphical user interfaces. Further ACE+ will be extended to support multiporoelastic metrials in a generalised manner.
